I grew up on a small farm in northern Iowa before attending Iowa State University. After graduating from Iowa State, I worked at a residential treatment facility for children with mental and emotional problems for a little over a year before entering law school. I married my wonderful wife while in law school, and she introduced me to the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. We moved to Rapid City after completing our educations.
I have long had an interest in children’s issues. I obtained a work-study job as a tutor while at Iowa State, was a mentor for about six years, and worked in a residential treatment facility for children. During Law School I represented children in court for two semesters as part of Drake’s highly regarded Children’s Rights Clinic. I currently seek to assist children by representing them in court proceedings, assisting their caregivers in obtaining guardianships and adoptions, and by helping their parents negotiate custody agreements that are in their children’s best interests.
In my free time I enjoy the many outdoor activities the Black Hills area has to offer, including golfing, fishing, and hiking. I also enjoy following my favorite sports teams, especially those of the Iowa State Cyclones.
